Mesothelioma
Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that is linked to exposure to asbestos. It affects the mesothelium that lines the heart, lungs, and abdomen. The worldwide incidence rate varies from industrialized to developing countries but averages at about 18 to 22 cases/million/year. There are approximately 2,000 to 3,000 new cases diagnosed each year in the United States alone.1
